A W123 might be coming home soon
Hey guys:
I drive a 1973 220D. I like the car a lot and don;t anticipate selling it anytime soon, but I've thought about buying another, more modern diesel MB to use as my travel car for work. I had a line on an '81 300D that was going CHEAP, but it had trans issues according to the owner. A couple days ago I stopped at an individual's "car lot" to look at a diesel VW I used to own. This person is the worst kind of car hoarder..he does sell things, but everything is overpriced and in the meantime things are just parked out in a grass lot to let the weeds and vines take them over. I HAVE bought a few vehicles from the guy, so now I can usually swing a fair deal. Anyway, I stopped to look at the VW, mainly to confirm that it was the same car, which it was. Picture in your mind a small building, surrounded by cars sitting door to door in tall grass and vines, btw. So, I check the VW out and decide to look around a little. Well, sitting behind and totally obscured by some beat up minivan thing, I discovered a complete, very dirty but straight and looks to be rust-free '81-85 300TD turbodiesel. I am very intrigued by this because not only do I really like wagons, but it's an exact match to the other MB, white with blue interior. Even has a sunroof. Sorry, for no pics, but I kinda didn't seriously think about this until I was miles down the road. I will keep you updated as to whether I rescue this wagon soon. |

That's cool, if you can pry vehicles from a hoarder......you have some pretty special skills! But be warned it does say Mercedes and a lot of people, regardless of the condition of the car....only see dollars signs....keep us posted!
