I can tell you one in particular that will run circles around a diesel and get fantastic mileage and that is the BMW 328i. Those are quick little cars.
Two questions.

1) Why are you hating on diesels on a diesel forum?
2) If gassers are so great, why do you still own a diesel?

Diesels are a different type of motor and shouldn't be characterized in gasser terms, just like hybrids shouldn't be purely compared to EVs. If you want to pick a certain task, each type of motor is better suited for one thing or another, so pick the one that fits the best for what you want.

It has been a while since I have been around the forum, but remember you stirring up the pot back then too. The OP made a great purchase, is excited about it (as he should be), and you are the one flaming.

OMG..

Fact....Technology advances as time moves on. Costs to fix certain things on certain vehicles that are contemporary become less prohibitive in the future. This is an inevitability.

Congratulations on your diesel, man! It's a beautiful machine!

Thanks! I still don't understand the rest of the bull**** in this thread of "gas is always better, cars need at least 400bhp". Maybe just a little jealous?

I don't get it either. Maybe he went off his meds or something. In response, may I direct you to the ignore feature of the forum; it's a wonderful invention...

IMHO gas makes the best hotrod and diesel the best daily driver. For an everyday car I'd rather have 400ft-lbs and 200HP rather than 250ft-lbs and 300HP. That said I have balked at newer diesels because of the cost of DEF (it has come down) and the sacrifice of the spare tire to the DEF tank.

Enjoy your new ride, it looks like a really nice vehicle.

Not jealous, just after driving a 400+ BHP car (with over 500 lbs/ft TQ @ 7 psi boost) on a daily basis (aside from the days I drive the old W116) I just do not like anything less....

In all actuality, my wife is more of a power monger than I am. I think that's why she like the Supercharged Q7 so much.

1. I don't hate them at all, just expressing my personal opinion on them
2. I keep this old Benz, primarily as an extra car, and it serves to remind me of the hard times when we didn't have really much of anything and keeps me mindful of the fact that I never want to go back and relive those times.

If you read my posts, I think you will find your analysis without factual basis. I spend most of my time in the forum helping others and rarely do I express my opinion, and when I do, because I do not subscribe to the point of view of the masses, it makes me somewhat of an outcast.

Good purchase and it sounds like the diesel will do exactly what the OP wants it to do...

Peace....
