85 300SD Front wheel bearings. Washer/ shim under spindle nut ?

I was stopped in the middle of replacing front wheel bearings and rotor. Now getting back to it I happened to notice some some sites mention a shim/ washer between the outer bearing and the spindle nut. I do not currently have access to my parts breakdown diagram. If anyone has quick access and can tell me yeh or neh it would be a great help.
Thanks ( loosing daylight and wifes patience )
Alan

Hmm. I'm not sure. EVERY wheel bearing I've ever seen has the washer, but I've done dozens of MB's and I simply do not remember if there is a keyed washer or not.

surely there are pictures in the wikki DIY area...

Me too. always a washer. So now I need to get one if it is not there. Going to confirm and make sure I did not just drop it.
Thanks

The EPC does not show one for the 126.120:

The design seems to work pretty well; my 01' W210 does not have one either.

Good luck.

No Washer on My 86 SDL W126

Just replaced rotors, races, and bearings. No washer "under" or between the spindle nut and bearing.

I have never seen a washer under the spindle nut on any W126. I have done bearings a few times on different W126s and pulled parts from the junk yards.

I don't recall a washer on either of my cars, did both a couple of years ago.
