'87 300SDL Electrical Issues

I bought my 300SDL about a year and a half ago and have been trying to the small problems one at a time as my budget has permitted. I have reached a point where I have no experience and I'm stumped. Here's what happened: I bought a new automatic antenna and had no problem getting the antenna motor off and installing the new mast. It was easy to install and it works now. Good on that... BUT since installing the new mast, 2 fuses keep blowing - fuses 2 and 7. One controls the turn signals and emergency flashers, the other controls the horn, radio, rear defroster etc. If I unplug the emergency flashers behind the center panel, the fuse does not blow and the other fuse works fine. If the emergency flash switch is connected, the fuse blows when the blinkers are used and then the other fuse follows. While trying to determine if there was a problem with the wiring in the emergency lights, I probably bumped something else, because now the radio turns on but the speakers don't work. And the latest in this series of problems, (and I have no idea if it is related or just a coincidence), all of the gauges on the instrument panel fell to zero as I was driving. Fuel, oil, temperature, speedo, odo, tacho, all simultaneously dropped to zero. Like I said, I don't know if all of these things are related, or if it is just coincidence that my 25 year old parts are just wearing out at the same time... Any ideas? Or is it time to go to the doctor?

Electrical problems are no fun, any luck since august?

-If fuses 2 and 7 started blowing exactly when you installed the new antenna I would look there first. Possibly the wiring to the rear lights is interrupted.

-If the fuse(s) that power the instrument cluster are working, you may have a bad ground inside the cluster.
