Coupe Rear Windows - Cry of Despair

Is it just me, or are the rear windows on W123 Coupes the worst design ever? I have overhauled the mechanisms and even built some new (better) parts with little success.

When I had them working, they quit working after 10-15 cycles.

Did they ever work properly? Are they supposed to go all the way down?

Any good advice?

Fritz is a beautiful '83 300CD and loves to drop his windows in the Texas springtime...

I have an 81 300CD.
I lowered my rear windows when I first got it and they go all the way down.
Scared the hell out of me, so I never did again!

I think they are meant to go all the way down.
My left window is stuck halfway and wouldn't go further and it stops in between.

The right window is busted... something broke inside, however the motor works...

I'm gonna get 'em fixed for summer!

Fat head

Just make sure that when you are raising or lowering these windows, that you have an assistant manipulate the button, whilst you help the window along with your hand!

Mine work but seems many don't. I make a habit of regularly operating different functions that normally don't get much exercise (like rear windows of the coupe and A/C in winter). My experience with machines is that parts that aren't exercised regularly tend to cause problems....kinda like human bodies.
