PS pump
Power steering on my 1983 300sd leaks all over everywhere I park and uses a lot of fluid. I have not driven it in two weeks. Today I changed the glow plugs because it would not start. And I decide to pull off the PS pump and install the new seals that I purchased two months ago.
It came out of the car OK and I scrubbed it to get rid of the piles of dirt and grease. The Pulley nut was hard to get off but I got it. There is a ring clip that holds the pump together. It took a few minutes, but I got it out. And the whole internal pump spilled out on the bench. I changed the seals and put it back together--twice. I put the pulley back on everything looks good. I install it in the car only dropping the nuts a couple of times. The car starts right up.( glow plugs worked). But the PS does not work at all. I took the cap off with it running and it looked like the fluid was not even moving it was just shaking with the engine. I am betting that I put one of the pieces in up side down. Or the alignment pin and the parts are not where they are suppose to be. So my question is, is there a diagram somewhere with a break down picture somewhere?

I always figured he spelled it that way cause he ran out of letters, or the name he wanted was already taken... nope... spelled correctly, is not too many letters, and the username is not taken...
I agree... why'd he choose that spelling for a username?

there were three HP ratings on the OM616... 1) Not much power 2) Even less power 3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast. 80 240D Naturally Exasperated, 4-Spd 388k DD 150mph spedo 3:58 Diff We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Stator
Could I have put the Stator in up side down.
I did not take the giant bolt off, that was two difficult on my work bench (the front of an old Mercedes). Could it just have a big air bubble in it, I doubt it. My stator has four connection points the one in the picture only has two. I had no problems getting the nut off the pulley and getting the pulley off the shaft. Maybe I should take the one out of the old Mercedes and try to rebuild it without spilling everything out. Last edited by grease lightnig; 10-20-2013 at 08:16 AM. Reason: added a line
