Did y'all realize that the engine in the E250 is also available in the Sprinter?

What are the list prices, and how do you figure that?

That makes no sense in reality, when you can buy a new 2014 E250 for $50K +/- in 2013.

I'll take a new 2014 45 mpg - E250 all day - with all of it's useless junk.......vs. Grandpa's poor fuel-mileage, non-ABS, non-airbags W123.

I totally agree, I'd take the new E250 as well, and save the 617 for tractors.

You're techniclay correct about no E320 bluetec, BUT, MB's been cranking out OM642 powered W211 and W212s in the US since 2008 through 2013 the badging game keeps changing, but the 3.0L diesel cars have remained the same.

PS there are 128 for sale right now on cars.com

What? Do I hear people trashing the 617? Don't you respect your elders? Nice turbodiesel there, wonder who started that...

Hey, was it the 617? It was? Well, who cares about that...

Its all about $ per mile. A brand new E250 at $50k with an assumed life of 300k miles will cost you 16.6 cents per mile. Adding the cost of diesel at $3.75 per gallon and getting 45mpg will add 8.3 cents totaling 25 cents per mile.

The 95 E300D with 150k costing only 5k getting 32mpg will be 3 cents to buy and 12 cents to drive. so 15 cents per mile.

Its 40% more expensive to buy the new car. the sweet spot is around 2 to 4 years old with 30 to 60k miles on it. Thats where you really start to win. right now, the best car for all of us as far as inexpensive would most likely be an 06 to 08 bluetec e class with around 60k on it.

Glad to know, my actions were banker procedurally approved, regards the stats on my recently acquired '06 E320 CDI.

What are the specifics on the 2014 regarding miles vs price, any warranty left?

Only asking because I have found new 2015s still in stock, at least $10k off I'm betting, with new warranty and zero miles (more miles to amortize purchase price if you're a long-term buyer).

Seems like it's worth comparing the two options.

Warranty through 30 Dec 17, 24k miles, off lease. Good car fax $36k. AWD.

Comparison shopping same year around here, $31k-36k. Same goes for GLK250 which I found that had the rear seat was too small.

Dealer in Alexandria VA offered to sell me a 2016 E250 for $54k.

IN my opinion folks around here are way to particular about their cars when shopping, plus gas prices are low. These things are not moving very well for what I can tell.

I agree. With fuel prices so low, mileage is not much of a decision factor.
I looked at buying a Tahoe, and at 25,000miles / year I believe it would have cost $50/mo more than a 33mpg car, not too significant.
Still, I know several VW Audi Mercedes people, and diesel has never been only about fuel mileage for us, just one of the reasons we buy diesel.

If you want a Mercedes diesel and find a new 2015 on a lot somewhere though, you should be able to get one heck of a deal.

Right now we are down to the E250 for 36k, there is also a 2012 ML350 Bluetec for $35k about 40k miles. I noticed it was more refined then my 07 ML320CDI is.

I am leaning toward the E250 personally, but my wife hasn't test drove. Ironically I think the selling point will be the square clock on the dash of the E250..HAHA

And I bought the E250. Love it! Got 43 mpg in DC traffic last night!

Welcome to the OM651 club!
It took me a while to get used to it pulling down to 900rpm under light throttle, now I try to keep it from downshifting.
Pics please!

Yesterday's driving took me 120miles, 90 highway and 30 city, averaged 37.3. All that and less CO2 than a gasser, loving it!
