The CL and eBay alert threads

I like the idea of a CL/eBay alert thread, but to check it out, I have to click on it, then find where I left off, and then mouse through each individual ad (because these are all replies to a thread, I can only see 1-2 at a time)... the end result is that I don't look at it very much.

Then I had a thought. Instead of having a thread for them, why not create a sub-forum for them, as has been done for Alternative Fuels and Performance Tuning? That way all the ads posted could be read in one quick glance and you could click on the ones you are interested in... the title could include something like the type(s) of car(s), location, price, anything notable, etc.

Anyway, just one chap's* thoughts on the thing. What do you guys think?

*I've read too many posts by Stretch...

That's the spirit! "I'm not complaining, it's just that the car/my life/whatever stinks!"

some thoughts on CL alert thread/sub

It seems to me that where possible it would be helpfull to separate the stupid listings from the potential values out there.

Personally, I find the following critical discourse enlightening & entertaining. Maybe shuffle the dreck over to OD & keep the diamonds in FS?

A CL mod perhaps?

Oh, that's interesting -- I was thinking of diesel subforum since I haven't seen anyone else around here running alert threads, but I suppose that would also catch all the people who post alerts IN the FS forum, irritating fine members such as SRJ . (Joking, Joe )

Hm? Are you suggesting people posting vehicles and then a mod thinning them? Or are you saying that posting stuff here would be a way of thinning the herd? OD means... Open Discussion?

OD=open discussion.

The poster decides into which category the listing falls and places accordingly.

A mod might choose to re-locate or cross-post.

It is good to have a laugh over some of the listings that come up, likewise those in search of a specific vehicle/item (cough) just off their CL radar might find the heads-up usefull.

I vote for Mr. Luna to be CL mod if a split happens

Oh, I see what you are saying -- the laughables shouldn't be posted in the same place, since they are not alerts in and of themselves, but are rather more in the laughingstock category. Come to think of it, I think there is a thread for that (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/334193-craigs-list-turd-thread.html) I could see the value of either relocating the CL and eBay alerts to a separate forum or just creating a DD subforum -- I think the main advantage of a DD subforum is that it would be diesel-specific, which I imagine many here are after.
