Very odd odometer problem

Well, it went from 629,424 on one fillup, and then suddenly to 730,086!!

I'm pretty sure even my old 123 will not give me that kind of amazing consumption. I didn't think much of it at the time, as I was just entering numbers in my app.

I knew it was time to change oil too, and THAT is when the numbers hit me! I had a minor panic attack as I thought I had gone over 100,000 km without an oil change.

So, is there any way to fix this? Or can I just assume its 630,190 now and not 730,190 hahaha! I keep meticulous records on this app, so I know for sure what's going on...

I would guess your hundred thousand digit is stuck to your ten thousand digit.

Hahaha....well, it was in the shop to get the Guide Rod Mounts replaced and overall alignment done...you think maybe the shop guy drove it for 100,000?

What started off as a simple alignment job turned into this whole guide rod fiasco that burnt a hole in my pocket. The upside though, is that my car now tracks and feels like the race car it used to be until I changed the tie rod ends without an alignment after

OK, so, if the number is stuck, is there a way to "unstick" it? I know its cool to drive around with a car that reads 700,000 + on it, but its gonna play heck with my record keeping for sure.

I don't know the answer to that. Drive another 10,000 km and see if it changes again. If not, it was a one time thing, if it does, you should probably pull it out.

Are you sure you got the right car back

I took my dart in to have the rear end rebuilt, long ago.....I was wondering why it didn't have the power it once had.....the shop decided to steal the rare rear end....and stick one in from a six cylinder car....

makes you wonder how long it's been like this... maybe your car only has 200K on it?

If he has been keeping good records, and has had the car to put some mileage on it, I think he would know.

Although, maybe he hasn't and when they fixed the ODO they accidentally glued the last two digits together!!

This is the Mercedes secret to achieving extremely high mileage longevity on these old diesels. Shhhhhh! Or you'll ruin the myth and spoil the high resale value for everyone.

Yes, I've kept meticulous records. I use an app called Gas Cubby, which tracks fuel consumption as well as service records. I was watching the odo with bated breath, waiting for it to hit 630,000 km. And then suddenly, it was 730,000!!

Ah well...lets see what happens. Maybe this is how all those million-mile Mercs happened!!
