Ahhhh well I actually bought a 240d from Texas that looked like that, was even that colour, when I got it.

All that it would have taken to make it look that way was a rinse and a bit of rubbing (reddish dust under the hood).

ahhh, the world of no corrosion.

though of course thats a project engine. I want to see that car in use every day looking like that, then ill be floored. Ive only seen one like that at benzfest, and it was amazing.

Guy drove from CA towing a trailer and you could see yourself in the valve cover.

didn't the cars come with plastic tank radiators?
odd that there is no insulation on the a/c suction line...
very nice condition I'd say!

Missing the radiator Cap, the wrong Oil Fill cap is on (sits sideways) and missing the Air Intake Tube. I take it this is still under construction and or repairs.

Very nice looking.

Ya know, all Calif cars look like this. even in PNP.

Yes, pic is from Bud' Benz (Ga) Newsletter. I would post a link, but they don't seem to have it on the web.

Re the 300D, this what they said:

Quote:
This 300D is going through a total restoration..

*Complete Engine rebuild

*Complete Suspension rebuild

*Rebuilt Transmission

*Brakes & Air Conditioning

*More pictures to follow...Stay Tuned to our newsletter!!

Contact David Latham
Doing this sort of restoration can't be cheap. Usually hard to justify for the W123.

There was one other pic.

I was lucky enough to visit this shop after a benz buddy had his car die on the road and they towed it there. Amazingly clean shop, cool people, and I left with a free t shirt. They really get the "buddy" aspect.

I would love to have the link to the newsletter....will enjoy reading it.....

All them parts are painted, not the original cad plating....there is a member here I think, who sent off all he's bits to be replated....they looked awesome.....

Brake fluid level is very high in the reservoir....

Also not all engine compartments came out of the factory looking like that....the early ones, like mine are coated with wax....makes them look horrible grease....its called cosmoline a type of rust proofing

Agreed. Gold is too red and the coloring is too consistent. Eastwood sells a fake cad kit that does look convincing if applied properly.

If only the plating process was not too toxic I'm sure a lot of folks would have done it by now. The next best thing is to have the current plated items cleaned thoroughly.
