I ain't no muffler shop, but this is what I came up with, Don't laugh.

My exhaust (the cars original) had pin holes in it and I been looking at new exaust.
Since I installed the hitch last week, my new dilemma is that a stock exaust
blows black soot all over my basket that plugs in the hitch and I get a nasty basket and cargo. So that's the reason for my awkward appearance at re tail pipe. However I am going to redo the tip into something better, I just got to order something and weld it on.
I trial fitted several mufflers and these seemed to work best.
I would of loved to had the very rear muffler to be round again but that just wasn't in the cards.
So what do you think? Does it look good or like crap?
Really can't tell any sound difference since the Diesel engines rattle is so loud.
And before you ask, yes I got plenty of clearance at the fuel tank, about 2.5 inchs maybe 3.

There is supposed to be something wrong with the system?

At most if you want to do something, add a second rod welded to the top of pipe then as a triangle shape to near the existing rod near the rubber mount. ( With vibration, single welded on rods might tear out of the pipe. )

Looks great. I just removed my rear muffler and replaced it with straight pipe from Autozone. It's not as loud as people made me think it would be and gives a bit better performance.

I guess I'm my own worst critic.
I was expecting some of the MB purist to blast me for not going back with factory MB stuff.

He mentioned it clearing the fuel tank, and then the back up light was the give away.

You did a great job installing the system. How did you bend the pipe? Do you have one of those HF pipe benders?

The stock MB Mufflers are a straight through design. What kind of mufflers did you use? I copied the following from another MB Forum.

The stock mufflers are a straight-through, unbaffled, design and the diameter is already large even compared to modern cars.

Charlie

I have a friend that restores old Chevys on the side and he owns a pipe bender and let me use it.

No but if we hear that you aren't mixing pure alpenvoss spring water with your factory MBZ coolant... well I won't be responsible for what happens next...

Looks great. No MB part recommendation here, I personally prefer straight pipe.
