Neither of us plan on stopping until all local supply is exhausted completely. :D |
Thanks OP. I scored some from three of the stores here in Fort Worth. The reaction on the face of each of the cashiers was great after they saw the discount taken off.

Wait....theres more.....
Remember to sign up for Mobil 1 Rewards.....you get $5 back for every 6 quarts purchased or in this case.....$10 for every three gallons.....
Hmmm....that makes it $12.99+local sales tax- $3.33 rebate = Cheap. I'm guessing it works out to around $10-$10.50 gallon. Synthetic oil doesn't go bad over time.....Now that is a deal! ;) BTW: I'm at 27 gallons. |
Just picked up 5 jugs of oil. I did the brake cleaner special too. Sometimes 3 boxes of brake cleaner isn't enough. :o off to WalMart tomorrow to get more oil!

Never goes bad? Could be we'll all have something to leave our grandkids.;) I have 6 gallons so far. Jeff |
I'm having trouble finding a rational argument against acquiring virtually ANY quantity. My 25 gallons has me set for five years. But I should probably buy more....if I can find it.
I'll probably buy this oil then undergo some sort of Group IV base stock conversion! ;) |

Better deal is the Autozone rewards. Make 5 separate purchases of $20 bucks or more, get $20 reward to spend in the store. I used my rewards to make a purchase, ended up paying $7 for 2 Gallons of TDT after taxes!:P . |
Mobil 1 shelf life
From the Exxon Mobil web site:
Question: Shelf Life of Unopened Mobil 1™ QuartsDoes Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil (in an unopened quart) have any sort of shelf life, like conventional motor oil?-- John Lantz, Littleton, CO http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...ges/spacer.gifAnswer: ExxonMobil recommends a five year maximum shelf-life for engine oils, including Mobil 1™ synthetic. |

I always had an opinion that 5 years is a conservative estimate. They generally have to watch out for their own liability, so they had to say a time limit. I would think around 7-10 would be the maximum shelf life before the additives deplete.
|
Maybe it's the shelf life of the container.

According to my oil analysis tech, while it is possible to have additive separation with any oil, that's typically not a problem with the better oils because of how they're mixed. He says the main reason for the five year shelf life is the upgrade in OEM engine specs....which of course is irrelevant for most of our purposes.
|
They say 5 years so after that time you will dispose of it and buy more of their oil...
I only have about a 3 year supply so far so I will be looking at getting more. :D |
