P/S pump question quickie

which line is the 'return'? the higher one or the lower one. My guess is the upper but I want just make sure.

I plan on changing the fluid this weekend.

Yes, reference the pump. Fluid is returned to the reservoir.

can i replace it with any fuel rated hose? or should it be something special?

Any hydraulic hose that fits should work.
