As I was driving through snow ice, the ESP light (yellow triangle with exclamation mark in the middle) on my 98 E300 flickered on and off as it normally does. But then it stayed on for the remainder of my drive (20 minutes or so) on clean pavement. When I turned the car off and then back on the light was out and has stayed out.

Did the system simply get "confused" and need to be reset?
