Washer Reservoir Lid Won't Stay in Place

On my 98 E300D, there's the lid to the washer reservoir that you open to put in fluid. But that lid in turn is connected to a larger plastic piece, a larger lid, through which the heating tubes go. That larger piece won't connect securely to the reservoir....it keeps wanting to lift up. Any ideas as to how I can get it to stay in place? I could use some sort of epoxy, of course, but that seems unnecessarily permanent.

Let me know what you find, I'm having the same problem.

On the w123 you can buy the lid separately. (I did, once, some time ago tho.) Don't know about other models.

Using some epoxy would certainly do the trick....would I have any reason to regret that?

I wouldn't epoxy the lid down. It would make it much more difficult to remove the reservoir for cleaning or if you have to access the fuel system. Pulling the washer tank allows access to the lift pump, most of the fuel lines, and the shutoff valve without having to remove the intake manifold.
