Broken part ...need help

so i changed my motor mounts and tie rods today.
yayy that was fun.
:)

during my motor mounts fiascal.
i broke the hard plastic hose that goes to the banjo bolt behind the turbo.
do i have to get a hole new hose...or could i use tivek or some other hose

the good part is since i had to take this part off..i found it was pretty loaded with carbon..and i cleaned it

oh and what is the proper name for this actual part.

I'll be watching the answers, I broke mine too not clear through, but enough I don't think my shrink wrap "fix" was enough

Please see the attached figure for the MB's rather complicated official term for that part.

It looks like even MB mechanics would have to rebuild the part (priced by the meter), so probably some hose and a clamp are the way to go. The hose listed has a price of $16.50 at your dealer, but I honestly cannot tell if that is the price with the fittings or just the price of 1 meter of the hose without any fittings. Good luck.

thanx short guy...what hose would you recommend.

When mine got hard and dry and started to crack and break, on my old w116, I just found some generic plastic tubing at an auto parts outlet for a few bucks. Worked fine.

what does this plastic hose actually do...still a rookie.

It signals to the ALDA on the injection pump to increase the fuel volume as the intake manifold pressure increases due to the turbo pumping air into it...more air without more fuel does nothing, but more air with more fuel=more power.

ahh...so that why i have no power when i step on the pedal without it. :)

Use a Butane Ligher flame or a Candle Flame and heat up the pice of Plastic tube thet is still on the Banjo and use a Needle Nose or regular Pliers to yank it off. Be careful because the Metal Banjo is going to be hot.

Do the same to the other end that is still attached.

Take one Banjo go the Auto Part Store and find some thick walled Vacuum Hose that fits tight on the Nipple. At the very best you would have 12 psi of Boost Pressure. Not much pressure at all.
If you want something sturdier use some thick walled Silicone Vacuum Hose.

I tried to post a picture showing that I have an Orange Silicone Vacuum Hose going from My ALDA to the Over Pressure Relay but for some reason I can't post it.

Or try the HVAC supply house. They will have silicone tubing meant for the pressure switch on a gas furnace (that proves the combustion air blower is running). Perfect for the high temperatures found under the hood.

thanx guys
i just used my yellow weed wacker tivek hose that i use for my fuel return lines.
the heating the the banjo fitting end was the key tip.

:)

Anyone know the ID dimensions of this tube?

Don't worry about the dimensions. Scrounge a 3" black soft vacuum line connectors from a parts car, put some crazy glue on it before splicing the broken line. Cut up strips of bicycle inner tube as a rubber band and use it as hose clamps. Boost pressure in that line should be less than 12 psi so this fix should work.

You don't even have to do that you can just by a section of thick Walled Vacuum Hose and cut your own short Sections. Good to have on hand anyway becasue you can use it other places in your Vacuum System.

I specifically said use the short Mercedes vacuum hose because it is very stretchy to fit over a hose that is twice or maybe even 3 times its diameter. It's unlike any vacuum hose that you buy in auto parts stores.
