Anyone have experience installing a manual sunroof?

As the thread says, anyone actually install a manual sunroof in a W123? AND, how far are you from zip code 29229?

I am willing to drive to you. Let me know how much $$. I want to do the swap in my DD, but I am thinking this is something I do not want to tackle on my own.

Please PM.

Thanks !

Have you seen this?

PeachPartsWiki: Sunroof Conversion - Power to Manual

I have the stuff to do it to my dads "euro-fied" 300D, we just haven't tackled it yet. He's been talking about doing it soon, so I may have more insight in the next week or two.

Yes, I saw the threads. I do a lot of repairs, mods, and maitenance on my DD. I just pulled the manual sunroof from the yard and because it's a JY car, I can be sloppy, although I try to not be abusive for the next guy. This is NOT something I want to try out myself. Assuming it does not rain this weekend, I am bringing my hacksaw to the yard to get the 2 small pieces which end up being rivoted. I have learned over the years to let someone who has done it do it versus trying it out on my own.

I have one in my basement. Shipping is impossible and it will not fit in the back seat of a W123 (if you were at Chad's Benzfest last year you know) It's a complete setup including the pan and headliner. I think the only way to install it is with the rear window removed.

It came out OK without removing the rear window. It will fit in the trunk of a W123 ??

I tried and ended up using a tie down to keep the trunk closed. Granted I had the console and seats in the car when I was trying to get it in so if they were removed it may work.

What yard are you finding this stuff at??

I did see a couple 603s at Columbia PAP recently but the good stuff was gone already. Rarely have 123s and they're usually something regular. If they every had a123 coupe in good condition that'd be my dream.

The Columbia P-A-P USED to have a lot of W123s. Now, I think maybe there's one every 3 or 4 months. I travel to Charlotte, Augusta, and basically any drive which is 99 miles or less each way. I travel to Coastal Carolina and there's a few P-A-P along the way (not the chain, but mom and pop places).
