Not sure why your mechanic frowns on testing the injectors, how else will you know if they are doing their job?
Doesn't surprise me about being more or less lighter fluid... And they're serious about being in a well ventilated environment stuff is strong.

Same here though about resisting the injector test... With diesel purge producing a tangible difference, and considering I have no records of nozzle replacement... I'd think it could potentially make a large improvement. Task for another day, I suppose.

That's exactly what it seems to me. I'd guess they were largely in part chasing the driveline vibration issue (or using it as justification to replace everything). Between all the misc. repairs this owner spent ~$6500

Regarding the rotors, I cannot say. I know one can only machine rotors so many times before they're trash, and I know first hand how warped rotors feel... The current ones on my 300d feel fine though. Guess once the brakes need replacing the rotors will have to be in inspected as well.

And ha, before this 300d I was all BMW too... Something great about the 300d though.

And regarding the oil cooling lines / hoses, the economics of it all make sense... I just can't buy into the notion I can't replicate the same longevity of the original hoses, or do better. If I have to do some manual fabrication / assembly, so be it.

So yeah... Saying I need a second opinion is a bit redundant at this point, ha.

Update
Sorry for the long post... Bit of too much vodka last night.

But I've settled on a plan thanks to everyone's help here.

- though I want to do the oil cooler mod, I'm going to do the hose replacement like cooljjay since my bottom hose needs replacing sooner than later. Seems like the Parker hoses are pretty good, but will do a bit research just to see if anything better is out there. I plan on changing the oil next weekend... Seems like a good time to perform the oil hose job.

- not replacing the injector pump... Going to get a second opinion / continue fuel treatment / maybe pressure test + nozzle upgrade

- driveshaft...going to inspect the u-joint, then take it somewhere who knows what they're doing... Maybe it just needs to be rebalanced... Who knows.

- and for everything else, I'm going to inspect all mounts and take it slow.

Just want to say thanks again. I'll report in a new thread how the hose job went with pics and all that.
