A.L.D.A. Adjustment Using Shims
Been too long away! I have been in Sandy Eggo area since 10 May and miss home. Limited internet access also. But, family needs help and hopefully will be out of here soon!
I got two 1/32" shims and a 1/16" made for me for free by an aviation machinist out of scrap aluminum since I couldn't find anything that work and tired of looking. I have the 1/32" and the 1/16" in and the A.L.D.A. super hand tight (don't have a 27mm wrench with me). However, there is no perceivable difference between no A.L.D.A. and shims. 1/16" shim is slightly over the 1.5mm maximum so leads to further questioning. Even more strange is the lack of black smoke; never much got it even with the A.L.D.A. off. Last time I did more harm than good by using the adjusting screw, but if I have to, I will. Why did shimming the A.L.D.A. have no affect? Is it possible to over shim the A.L.D.A.? Can the turbo be limited by fuse 14 blowing? There is an electrical portion on the injection pump. I do have some passing power once above 100K.P.H., but below that gutless. Had it dialed for good power, but some point went away and didn't notice in my flat land mindless daily driving. La Jolla woke me up as I was getting honked at for holding up traffic... Got to go there Sunday for a funeral I just heard about, so be nice to get some performance back. Oh and yes I am kicking myself for not bringing my vacuum and my boost gauges. Boost gauge tell me if I was even making something and how much. Thank you all for any help!
