Oil filter o-rings

Does anyone happen to know the size of the two o-rings on the oil filter stem? This is a 602 turbo.

I replaced them and have them in my tool box, but I do not have my tool box with me. I can let you know tomorrow, if I remember, if no one else comes through.

I believe you are correct. I used the same o-rings I used in my 616 in the 602.

Not according to the EPC.

I replaced those on a 617 with some found in the Harbor Freight metric kit. They filled the slot and seemed snug installing the stem. Oil pressure registers quickly.

What would confirm that the o-rings are in fact working correctly?

If they are pliable, they're good.

If they are hard as a rock, replace 'em.

epc also claims the correct alternator belt size for the 83 SD is 9.5mmx1000mm qty 2... and we all know that the 9.5 will slip, you need true 10mm continental belts for a long lasting fit...

I Just change them every couple oil changes regardless. You can get them at napa for less than a dollar. Keeps your oil pressure up and insures no rubber bits in your galleries.

According to EPC, my '87 190DT has the same oil filter cover as the '87 300D. That's wrong, too.

Fact is, "we all" do not know that, believe that or support that position. You are free to believe it if you like, but speaking for everyone in order to justify your position isn't very convincing. Maybe wider belts work better on worn pulleys, but that doesn't mean the EPC is in error.

In any case, anyone who desires to ignore the EPC and operate on the basis of rumors and hearsay has come to the right place.
