Taking a chance on a 190D 2.2L?

I found this on my local CL. I have a truck that I don't drive that I would be willing to trade for this if I could get some advised input from you guys here on the forum. It has a pile of miles, but sounds like it is still going strong. I've put a call in and left a message, but no other details yet.

I will be driving this car (if I get it) up to 80 miles round trip per day. Thanks for any help. It seems like info on this particular model is hard to find...

At 420 k the trans is soon to go. The car has a hitch... not sure what's been towed with it.
My 2.5 turbo automatic was good but shifted too soon at 520 k...

It depends on the truck it's being traded for. The cash price is too high IMO. It takes hits for the mileage and for being an autotragic. I'd hold out for a manual.

In your area you should be able to find the same car with half the mileage and no creases or tears for that money. That is an enormous amount of miles; almost the infamous "these cars go for 500,00 miles" category!

I would carefully check the timing chain stretch on a car with that much mileage.

Not a Trailer Hitch

What looks like a hitch in the photo is actually a bike rack mount....I don't think it's a problem.

Because when they get out of their car they go riding their bicycles... so their preventative maintenance gets neglected.... and their crotches are sore... so they are crotchety ....
LOL
Another way of saying it is that keeping these old MB's going leaves no time for other activities....

The car actually looks decent.

I like the center console layout on that one. Mine are different, no coin tray, and the radio sits lower, makes the ashtray interfere with the window controls.

I agree, the price is high for the condition, seems about $2000 overpriced.

What do you mean by "soon to go"? Is that like 50-100k more life? (I know you can't see the future).

As for the price, I realize it's way high, but it would be a straight across trade that I would consider fair.

I feel like the car is not in bad condition, even compared to cars with half the milage. With 419k and good maintenance, what is the reasonable lifespan on these engines? 500k?

Is this a model with the alloy head? Do they have the same cooling issues as the OM603?
