F.Y.I. Wurth no Longer in Business

Tried numerous sources, and do not have Wurth hardware. Even tried eBay and nothing. So, seems another great company bit the dust.

Guess the only option now for usable metric hardware is order from the Vaterland?

Thank you so very much for the help!

Mainly the horn screw: https://www.belmetric.com/4mm-metric-hex-bolts-4x7-coarse-c-533_535_21.html Only issue is country of manufacture...

Also, like to get an assortment of common sizes, as local and online only has Chinese/ Chinese hardware is horrible! Zinc coating is too thick and the threads aren't cut right or nice. Takes too much effort compared to the German yellow zinc hardware, to the point I like to replace some of the rusted Volkswagen hardware with yellow zinc. Plus, frustrating having to make a run around kingdom come to find something simple.

I tried that in the past, and I.I.R.C. have to have a commercial business. I know there was an issue of some kind. Tried finding a distributor or supplier, and nothing. Guess I am jumping to conclusions...

Try McMaster. They have lots of bits.

M4 size screw is what you are looking for it sounds like.

McMaster-Carr

Are you sure they are made in the U.S.A.? Last time I checked they were not...

You would probably have to call and ask. I have a bunch of stuff from them but I dont remember where it was made. I cut up the labels for my plastic bins so all I've got are the sizes.

You could also inquire with
Micro Fasteners :: Blogs :: Quality You Deserve...

I've got their stuff too.

These guys say Made in USA:

M4 Metric 8.8 Steel Zinc Plated Coarse Thread Hex Head Cap Screws Din 931 - Mutual Screw & Fasteners Supply - Mutual Screw & Supply

Wow! Thank you for such a good idea! Didn't think of using the box as a label. The Dymo labels are now coming off on the Volkswagen box.

Trouble is they don't have the right length. It's amazing those easy to loose screws are hard to find!

Thinking I will call BelMetric for grins, as looks like Porsche folks recommend them, and we know what snobs they are! If it works, man they be a source!

Remember that you can always shorten bolts/screws. I do it all the time. Nip them to length and grind a slight angle at the cut end so they'll start properly. MUCH harder to stretch the too short ones, though.

For bigger stuff (like maybe 8 or 10mm and up) remember ARP is an amazing source and all are US made. I don't think they offer the small stuff, though.

Dan
