Yay! New LEDs for my instrument cluster. The bad thing is...

So the prisms in my cluster melted and got a sad looking brown, so the illumination in my cluster was really dim. Inspired by some posts on this forum, I decided to install LED lights. It was a fairly easy switch, and today I'm enjoying a really nice looking cluster when I drive in the night. I chose yellow LEDs, since they're the closest to what it usually looks like. I didn't really want something too radical, like blue, red or green. I'll post pics soon. The bad thing is that, since at first it didn't work, namely, the LEDs didn't light up, and the cluster started doing all kinds of funny things, I had to test the connection with the little demo batteries the LEDs came with. I touched some of the terminals that go to the fuel, oil and water gauges, making the needles move. Then I went to the terminals that go to the lights, and the LEDs lit up just fine, so I concluded that the dimmer rheostat was at fault, so I jumped it. Everything works fine now, except for my fuel gauge, which goes to full when the ignition is on, and the oil pressure gauge, which doesn't even move. Water gauge works just fine, and everything else does too. Why would these two gauges in particular would fail? Are they associated in any way?
