Front suspension creaking noise

Well, before I bring it over to the shop, I thought I'd try here first to see if I can do something about it myself.

My right front suspension is making creaking/groaning noises when I bounce it up and down (does it when driving too).

I suspect a dry bushing or something like that but I can't pinpoint EXACTLY where it's coming from

Any ideas?

LOL! I FINALLY remembered to send that sticker out. Glad you got it

As for the car, I'll prolly run it by the shop. They'll be able to find it 10X faster than me.

Chris,

The noises you describe sound like what I was hearing (and feeling) out of my front end before I took it to MB Autowerks. Had the ball joints, drag link, both tie rods and the steering damper replaced. Noises are all gone now and the ride is smooth........

Ether,

Just had Donnie look at the front-end last week. He didn't see anything wrong or anything that needed replacing.

It literally does sound like a dried-out creaking bushing noise though. I also had the engine cleaned by Donnie about 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking maybe a bushing got a little TOO clean

would love to see your 300SD sometime.

If you get some Ruglide or the likes... which is dilute Muratic Acid.... and spray on the rubber bushings it will probably take take of that noise... the metal stuff seldom makes those types of noises compared to the frequency the bushings... A nice container is the gallon with the three foot hose and sprayer on the end... lets you set the container on the ground and you just reach your arm up under and spray... If you bounce the car while you are spraying it is likely to tell you the exact one making the noise. but go ahead and spray all of them... LOL>.... including the control rod bushings and the sway bar bushings....give it some time to seep in and spray again if it is not cured instantly... Greg

Good idea. I'd try that now except when I drove the car this morning, the noise is gone.Possibly mother nature has lubricated whatever was making the noise with her morning dew.

As the day gets hotter, the creaking will come back.

Perhaps a stray dog stopped by to mark his area and missed the wheel... Greg

I had exactly the same sort of noise after my springtime powerwashing of my undercarriage. I sprayed the bushing with WD40 and the noise went away...for now. Is the replacement of the bushings a big expense or difficult procedure? I have not replaced these parts before, and hope that it can be done in the driveway.

Ducati, I think as a petro product, WD40 is not good for rubber items.... I would suggest dilute muratic acid sold as such stuff as Ru-Glide... Greg
