1999e300 turbo rebuilders
My 1999 May end up needing the turbo rebuilt or replaced, turbo is not kicking in at all and the wastegate shaft seems to be very loose
Hoping it may just need a spring or something for the wastegate but I would like to get some prices and recommendations for good turbo rebuilders or remans for this car just in case I dont even know what brand turbo it is and Google searches are turning up almost nothing on turbo replacement for om606

On this car, vacuum keeps the wastegate closed and a spring opens it up. As a test, you can hook a line with constant vacuum up to the wastegate and the turbo should develop full boost. If the diaphragm in the wastegate is ruptured, it won't hold and there will be no boost.
The stock turbo is a triple K. Look for a triangle logo with 3 "K"s in it.

Awesome info ,thanks
These are the things we tried I think First we unhooked vacuum hose from wastegate "actuator" or valve, no change Then tried pulling that loose shaft/rod that controls wastegate both directions - so closed and open.....and clapping it off so it could not move with pliers, still not change They are sure it is something in the turbo/wastegate because that rod is moving way too freely Hopefully it just needs a spring Will do some searches for the triple k turbos, thank you

Is this diaphragm for the wastegate replacable?
Or should we just try to rebuild the whole thing or replace it?

Take the vacuum line going INTO the transducer off and hook it directly to the wastegate actuator. If you do this while the car is running, you should see the actuator rod pull in when the vacuum is connected.

Unhook the wastegate actuator again, and draw on the hose with a mity vac. It should hold vacuum. When you release, you will probably hear the wastegate pop open.
I used Cheetah Turbos to rebuild the turbo on my 190DT (same turbo as yours). Another good mail order shop is G-Pop. You may want to ask around at local service shops...not necessarily Mercedes, as Garrett turbos are generic...and see if there's a local specialist. great info guys, thanks
think i found a good turbo rebuilder in phoenix, will take it up there wed if all these suggestions you guys made do not help us make a determination on what is wrong someone said they thought the turbo was triplek and someone else said garrett, does anyone know for sure which turbo the 99 came with? or were both types put in these cars

My car has a KKK. Sometimes they are referred to as Borg Warner or Schwitzer in ebay sales.
Here's an example. The listing says Borg Warner but you can clearly see the triple K logo on the side of the turbo compressor.

Gotta love those easy fixes. The MAP sensor is located on the secondary fire wall on the intake side of the engine. It has a single electrical connection and a single vacuum hose coming out the bottom and running about 12 inches or so over to the "EGR mixing chamber".
