87 W124 Security System?
On occasion when I would unlock my car it would start blinking all the front lights. Usually this would be solved by locking the car and unlocking again.
I recently got a new key from mercedes because the PO had only given me one key. The new key triggers the headlight blinkin state regularly and doesn't deactivate it as easily. Is this intended behavior gone awry? Some form of security system? The car starts and drives fine when it's like that, I just have to turn the headlights on to hide the blinking.

Pull back the carpeting on the passenger side. In the electronics bay under the carpet there is a black box with a connector on it. Made by Becker, part number 124-820-11-26. This is the security controller. Unplug it and enjoy your blink-free car.
Note the red connector in that area is the airbag disconnect. You don't want to unplug that. Note that the 87 does not have a starter lockout relay. Later 124s do. This is controlled by a relay behind the cluster that needs to be jumped out if you disable the alarm. http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124AlarmDisable
