A serious paint job costs a lot more money, to get it done right and all hints of previous rust removed, to get al lthe door jams painted and everything so it looks like a factory paint job can cost $5000 with a good clear coat, but I mean, if you just want a basic paint job that looks fine from 5 feet away...

Paint job spending needs to be commensurate with the car. I think the OP's is an older MB. Not sure though.

I got a $1500 paint job from Maaco and it is OK. Not great but standing a few feet back, it looks nice. I notice things like the window trim they scratched and places that were not prepped properly. I did have to have them fix a few spots before I paid for the work.
If you were to wrap a car, I would assume the paint is crap anyway, so it could only be an improvement. Whether or not it is better saved for paint is the real question. I have no idea how much it costs to wrap a car.
