Something Rattling inside Hubcap

Noticed a funny sound like a piece of metal dragging on the pavement was hoping it wasn't anything drastic the more i heard it the more it sounded like there was something inside the rear hubcap loose so today i took off the rear drivers side hubcap to find a heavy washer and a 1/2 inch thick or so 3 inch cylinder i checked the Passenger side and saw that the washer was attached with what seems to be a bolt , so i did not have a bolt on the rear drivers side i looked in EPC and have some part numbers so i kinda know how this attaches but can someone clue me in what these parts do i assume its some kind of cover and is it ok to keep driving until i get the screw to attach the washer and cylinder ?

It's important. That's the spacer, that IIRC, goes between the hub and the bolt that holds the CV axle in. So it holds important stuff together. Does that mean that important stuff will fall apart and leave you stuck on the way home? IDK. Someone else should chime in.

Yikes!!! That bolt holds the axle end in the hub.

Only make RH turns. Just Kidding!!!

I definitely wouldn't drive it with the bolt missing. Who knows what kind of damage can be caused when the axle end slides about 1" and decides to separate from the hub at highway speeds.
