took the car on 2hour trip and idels like it out of breath

yesterday i drove down to montreal from ottawa...a two hour trip....when i reached montreal, the engine began to idel as if it was out of breath....it hard to explain...the oil presure gauge would move up and down with idel....it kinda of sounded like a low WOOOO WOOOOO WOOOO what could be the problem....the car has 92,000kms run like great in the city and highway no problems...thanx all those that reply

Could it be that you got a bad batch of fuel? I had that happen to my car once when there was still supposedly 5 or so gallons of diesel left in the tank. The car would kind of irratically shake (not the normal diesel shake) and I had to put light pressure on the accelerator pedal to smooth things out at a stop light.
