Recieved my mileage badge yesterday !
Well it only took about 3 weeks from sending in the forms. Put it right on the grill, And what the heck, I might as well wax the old diesel which I did right away, what a diffeance a little wax makes . Specially looking at my shiny new badge, Also MB gives you a nice little lapel pin and a sharp certificate signed and everything. Great thing it is . Hans.

A classy program...
The grille badge is great, as is the lapel pin, and the "diploma" is nicer than the one I got after four years of college!
Wonder if I'll ever get to collect the full set? Doubt that many made in recent years will reach even the first milestone. |

How do I get a mileage badge and can I get it if I'm not the original owner?
The '84 300D turbo I bought just for kicks is starting to grow on me and it's headed for half a million miles. Only 370,800 now, but that sucker seems intent on running forever! Fred Burgess '84 300D turbo @ 371,000 '99 BMW R1100RT Assorted VW's '57 Frauline |

Does it have to go to the Mercedes Shop?
Greetings 240,
I called and requested a mileage form and recieved it but there were no instructions as to what I had to do or complete in order to recieve my badge. Can you detail the process for me? Just looking at the form it still had to go to the dealer and have it signed etc. My closest dealer is some 100 miles away, not just down the road. Any insight would be great. Charles

I ordered my 500,000km badge two weeks ago,
and it seemed clear on the forn that it had to be signed by someone at the dealership to confirm the mileage reading; I happened to go near a dealer on the way to pick up my youngest daughter from college, and they seemed to agree that someone in a responsible position at the dealership had to sign it, so the salesman went to fetch the sales manager and when the salesman verified that he had checked the odometer and it read 313,000 plus, the manager signed it. The salesman was enthusiastic, but the manager seemed a little annoyed.
I believe that you do not need to be the original owner to get the grill badge, but you do have to have made that many miles in Mercedes cars (cumulative) to get the lapel pin. This '85 300TD is the first M-B I have actually owned, and I've barely got 12,000 miles since I got it, so I only applied for a grill badge. |

Badge levels
250,000 kilometers (c. 156,000 miles), 500,000 kilometers (312,500 miles), and 1 million kilommeters (c. 620,000 miles). The badges only come marked in metric distances, which is fine with me.

As far as the info you need to know what dealer the car came from and also some other minor things like vin # motor # etc, I just happen to have the original owners paperwork. But I did not know who the salesman was so I left it blank. And sent it in to MB USA. located in Montvale N.J. call 1-800-367-6372. I bought a nice little key chain and at the same time I asked for the milage badge form. They have a nice gift catalog ask them for it. Hans.

To get the badge you don't have to be the original owner, or be the person who actually put all the mileage on the car. You just have to be the current owner at the time the car reaches or has surpassed the required mileage. My car has two 250,000km badges--one old-style silver one from a previous owner, and a newer gold one that I applied for myself.
The way I understand it, the lapel pins are for people who can document that they have put X-number of miles on MB car(s) that they currently own, or have owned, whether just on one car or more than one combined. I've heard of people getting the badge without actually having a dealer fill in the dealer portion of the form, but it's probably a good idea to do it, to avoid delays or hassles. Mike

Just a little FYI on those certificates. If you plan on framing them as I did, you will have to trim the certificate. You will not be able find a standard frame that will fit the certificate. I gather their standard for paper is different. The certificates are 8x11 3/4. So you will need to cut it down.
When I sent in my application for the 250K badge for my TD, I filled out the portion about awards received on previous cars. I mentioned the 250K badge I got for the SD. Well, not only did I receive a cert. for the TD and badge, but they sent along another cert. for reaching 500,000 Km. It even has my name on it on the top. In German it basicly says congrats on the accomplishment and happy motoring. It says Daimler-Chrysler at the bottom. Also, I got a lapel pin for 500,000Km. I was always under the impression that only those who actually put 500,000KM would get a pin. I have only put 15K on the SD and at the time only 3K on the TD.

I didn't have anyone sign mine but me. I got everything a few weeks later. Including the lapel pin. I'm not sure what the requirements are for the pin. It was the second 250k badge I had qualified for (I got the first badge about 10 years ago), but had only driven both cars about 270k miles myself combined. Not yet 500k kilometers.
