Hood Hinge Bent?
When I was fixing my fender I took the bottom part of the hood hinge off. I noticed they seemed to be bent outwards since when I rested them in the wing they didn't naturally fall in the pocket. Is this typically how they are or are these actually bent outward?

It would help if someone could take a picture of their hinges from the front of the car so I can see what they are supposed to look like.
Or if anyone has some for sale I might be interested. |

You do not want to screw around with faulty hood hinges or you will be researching prices of windshield installs. ~$200 for a 126. For reference, a complete hood with hinges from a yard was $100 the last time I bought one.

Also, take care to keep that pocket clean, or the metal can rust out around the hinge pivot, letting it come adrift. That area tends to accumulate a lot of "mulch."

That is a beautiful engine compartment. What did you do to get it so nice?

It's been a while since I've seen the inside of a W123, but isn't your washer tank on the wrong side?
Oh and very nice engine compartment,,, very nice indeed

Thank you Mespe and Junkman. To answer your questions, the washer bottle has always been there, that's the factory location for the W123. It took numerous cleaning sessions to get it this clean. I didn't use anything aggressive, to preserve the original look.

OK one more question with how this hood is supposed to work on the W123. It looks like the PO bent all of the locking tabs out of the way. If I bend them back here is how it seems to work. You open the hood from the fron but it only opens to about 20 degrees until the drivers side locks. You then go to the drivers side and move the latch and you can open it to about 45 degrees. Then the passanger side locks. You can go there and open this and you open 90 degrees. Is this the correct operation?
