Looking for wheels for snow tires, or use my current ones for snows and something else for summers, whatever. Just wondering what other mercedes rims work.

I found these on craigslist, off a 1991 300 series. I've read about different lug studs and offsets, not sure what that applied to, though. Would these bolt on and have the correct offset for my car? thanks.

Where are you located? Why not just get a second set of bundt cakes?

Is that what the stock ones are called? I'm in Maine and can't find any.

Will those fit? Or do they have the wrong offset or lug studs or something.

The ones you pictured... I don't think they'll fit, but don't quote me on that. Long, long, long time ago, my brother bought a set of those at a garage sale and then took the family 240D to the tire shop to get these swapped on. The tire/wheel guy said they wouldn't fit. I think it was an offset issue.

I think you can MAKE them fit, what with spacers and all, but I don't know the details on that. ngarover's post may be helpful.


If you don't mind a drive to central MA, I have more than enough bundts in storage and can make you a deal on a set.

There are several wheels taht look pretty much exactly like that. some have narrower rims and were used on the 190, others wider and different offset were used on th 126. They were also used on the 124. So assume nothing and get the measurements before purchasing.

Those are commonly called "flat face" or "15 hole" wheels. They came on the w124, w126 and w201 chassis. If they are from the w126 they fit the w123- which you have. If they came from the w124 or w201 they don't fit due to a higher offset. So no, they won't fit the front. They all fit the rear.

You could go to one of the wheel sites and find the specs of the stock wheels then look for wheels that meet those specs. Note that the wheel studs for the Bundts are a different length than the wheel you show in the pic above.

I have the 14" Bundts on the 84 & the 15" above on the 85SD. I think the newer wheels take the longer studs. I do know that they are different and can't be swapped.

Try hubcaphaven.com. I had reason to talk to the owner & liked him. They are located in MN. You could also have some shipped from a Southern yard if necessary. They are still available here.

You need to get seller to read off the rim size data that is stamped inside the rim. You need size (say 15x6.5) and offset (ET44 for example). The w124 had many different wheel options. You can check that here.. Then you will need tire size as well.

Next you need to enter your own wheel and tire data and the CL tire data into a calculator like this one: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

If you have standard wheel, they would most likely be 205-70R14 and rims 14x6.5 ET30.

I have been through this. With alloy rims, you need to buy 20 new bolts. Some more $$ unless you can find used. At some point they changed bolt size too, so another thing to consider if buying later model rims (2002+, I think)

Hmmm, good info, thanks guys. I guess this weekend if the guy still has em I'll drive down there and see if they fit. Sounds like the best way to know if they work or not... My car has the 14" alloys, so would I need to get different lug studs (I keep saying nuts and having to edit....), or am I set there?

In this case, 1991, the wheels could be from a W124 (300E/CE/D) with an ET (offset) of ~49, or from a W126 (300SD) with an ET of 21.5 or 25.

From the standpoint of bolt pattern they are all the same, and will bolt on.
The wheels from the W126 have the correct ET. The wheels from the W124 will be located too far inboard, and may interfere with the wheel well.

I had a set off a Lincoln. they are on my 123.

I hope to eventually get a set of CLK wheels, from a '99 or so. 16", near the correct offset, Strong and LIGHT! They look the biz on our car; I'd post a link but I am broadband handicapped just now...

Those are definitely 124 or 201 wheels, ET 48 or 49. 126 and 107 wheels have oval slots. 124 and 201 wheels have oval slots on for the first couple of years then rectangular as in the picture.

Are wide show tires a good idea? Might make more sense to get snows for the bundts and summer on 15s.

I had a set on my '87 300D before I installed big brakes and had to go to the later CLK wheels with different offset, but these are commonly called "Coke Bottle Cap" wheels because of their appearance. They are very light, very strong and will allow you to upgrade to better tires available for 16in wheels.

Watchout for refinished wheels though, the factory used a clear, hard coating on these and if it gets damaged and has to be stripped then there aren't any shops I've ever seen that can replace that finish so they will have a different appearance than the OE wheels.
Refinished wheel might be ok if you buy a set that is 100% refurbished but I would not want to mix OE wheels with refinished wheels. Not good!
