Seat parts interchangeability question

As I mentioned in the for sale section I am cleaning out my closet. So I have a lot of seat parts. Are the seat backs and skins interchangeable between the older 70's style seats and the newer 80's style seats?

The w123 backs and bases are interchangable in terms of bolting to each other, in terms of sedans and wagons. Not sure if the Coupe seats are the same.

The seat cushions and covers don't match, however, in terms of shape, contours and pattern/pleats.

There are three or four styles. I always thought three, but someone corrected me on a thread a few months ago.

The coupe seats are completely different than sedan seats. Possibly there is some interchangibility in the seat pads but on the outside all is different, down to the tracks which are the same AFIK.

Actually, just to correct what I said above, you can get away with mixing some of the seat upper and lower 'generations', at least those adjacent to each other in the series. They aren't identical but will work in a daily-driver situation, assuming the driver isn't overly picky.

For example, I realized only this year (after sitting on it for more than five years) that the top and bottom of the seat I pulled out of my old '83 240d was actually from two different generations, but with a perfect colour match.
