no start with block heater w123
plugged in the car last night, got very cold, maybe 5 degrees F.
no start this morning with several glow plug cycles. tested the plug at the relay, getting around 1.5ohms on each plug. diesel giant says they should be less than 1 ohm, but seeing a lot of other opinions out there. seems like my fuel might have gelled, but isn't that what the heater is for? any way to check if the heater is working?

pretty sure the heater is working. it was working yesterday as evidenced by snow melting on the hood. i think i can hear it sizzling right now.
glow plug relay fuse is new, i also replaced the relay at some point. light is working as usual.

Do not not trust ohmeter readings on low readings around 1 ohm. The readings are not accurate and not repeatable. If you have a 20 A digital ammeter, go from each pin of the glow plug connector harness to battery + terminal. It should surge to around 19 A and tapers to 10 A after 1 minute if the glow plug is good. Block heater may not do well heating gelled fuel in the IP so gelled fuel is a possibility for your no start. Good starter motor? Take a video of it when cranking. Did you have a battery charger plugged in with the block heater which is always a good idea. At single digit temps, your engine needs all the help it can get. Tomorrow Sat night is suppose to be single digit. I will try a cold start Sun morning w/o block heater. I think it will start since everything is in order and battery is on a trickle charger.

i think my block heater plug needed cleaning and wasn't getting a good connection. my ohm meter seems pretty solid, zero's out when you touch the leads together. i'll check the amps later and plan on replacing the glow plugs.

In my big diesel (6.2l) truck, if I don't change to a winter grade oil, you can hear the engine laboring to turn over fast enough to create compression, even with good glow plugs.
