A few small, annoying repairs, DONE!

YiiiiHA!

It's always nice to have a car in well, perfect shape when/where possible. The car does have a few problems, but for a 25 year old car, I can't complain. If you have such small repairs, here's the info!

I fixed a few annoying ones that are sort of easy. Going in, they're hard. But after they're done, you say "Gee, that wasn't so bad".

1) Dashboard light coming on due to a tail light or 2 frequently being out. I replaced that bulb and a few others 5 times over and still would get a "light out" signal on the dash shortly thereafter. I posted on this forum before and someone told me to check the tail light grounds, but I didn't know what they were or how to check them. After a bunch of research, I found out what the problem was, and it was a cinch to fix.

The problem is that the bulb and receptacle it goes into get almost like a calcium type of a haze on them, so they keep shorting out. Simply take a round bristle brush over the bottom and sides of the bulb, then inside the receptacle, put on a bit of dielectric grease, and pop them back in. Then on the entire tail light assembly has the thin center metal piece
that completes the circuit so you basically do the same thing with that where it meets up with the upper and lower row of lights. PROBLEM SOLVED! YiiiHA!

2) An annoying sound or squeal coming from the driver's side door panel. It's no fun taking off the door panel but something had to be done, and.....I'm the one who has to do it. I took the panel off, drove around a day without it on, found the squeak, fixed it. YiiiiHA!

3) A trunk leak. I was going to simply buy a new trunk seal but I took mine off, cleaned it completely, let it completely dry, then brushed Prestone Stop Leak power steering fluid on it and let it absorb in for a day. Wiped off the excess, replaced it, and .....no more trunk leak. YiiiiHA!
