Clutch Kit Recommendations
My 240D is getting a OM617. I will be using the 240D flywheel. There are 300k miles on the chassis and I have no idea how old the clutch is so I'm planning on replacing it while I've got the engine and trans out of the car.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a clutch kit they used or were happy with? I have lots of experience with Exedy and Spec clutches from my Nissan and Subaru days and was planning on one of those, but thought I'd reach out to the community to see what others did. |

I've had good LuK with mine - (get the humor??). Can't remember if I ordered it from Peach Parts or another large online vendor. It's only used on the racetrack and so far no issues.

Is there a Sachs kit available? They might be the OEM supplier.

Here is what Pelican Parts shows.
1980 Mercedes-Benz 240D Base Sedan - Clutch & Flywheel - Page 1 Sachs is German and what most use, the parts are a bit pricy though. Seems like for the Disk, it runs in the $150 range no matter what vendor you look up. That is crazy, but is what it is I guess. When I swapped in the 4-spd into my 85 300D about 6 yrs ago, I paid $148 for the Disk. Charlie

I used Sachs when I replaced the clutch in my 190D. I replaced the disk, pressure plate, TO bearing, pilot bearing, and the two hydraulic cylinders. The Sachs components are high quality and I was very pleased with everything.
