What M/T drain plug size in a 1981 240d, looking for magnetic style?
I have a 1981 Mercedes 240d with a manual transmission, and i would like to buy a drain plug that has a magnet built into it. i cant seem to find the metric dimensions of the plug, so i can see about ordering one.

While I don't know the exact answer to your question, what is probably wearing in the transmission are the syncho rings. Which I'm pretty sure are brass. Brass isn't magnetic.

Yes your right but brass will wear down to nothing ,only a colour of brass in the end And if the gearbox is 50 /50 steel and brass its worth putting a magnetic plug in .Just for the piece of mind. Art if you email the people that sell the sump plugs they will tell you the size you want. I think your not the fitrst to request one.
