How much vibration do you have at idle?

I replaced the rack damper pin and am going to replace the motor mounts soon. Is it necessary to change the engine shocks too? How often do those go out?

Also, how much vibration do you all have at idle? When the cars were new, did they still vibrate? I can feet the seats vibrating slightly, and the passenger seat headrest vibrates visibly so. All 123's I've seen have been like this. Is it just old motor mounts/ engine shocks?

Change Motor Mounts

I had my motor mounts changed at MB Autowerks, and it made a big difference in the vibration. Smooth, it is well worth to change them.

Vibration Gone

With only 3500 miles on the new engine, there is little to no vibration. The PO replaced all motor mounts, shocks when installing the factory rebuilt. Sounds like a loud sewing machine, feels smooth.

My .02 is: replace all the mounts, rubber, shocks while you have the opportunity.

The rack damper pin is located on the very back of the IP. It's a small solid bolt. There is an updated version available and its gold in color.

Thanks Craig...but how exactly does this bolt affect engine vibration? What does this bolt do?

I used to sit at a stop light and have a noticable shaking. I could look at the right front fender and noticed it vibrated more than the left. Replaced right motor mount and it smoothed out, also as a bonus the interior got quieter. I plan to do the left mount and trans mount soon. The mounts are like an inverted cup, mine had collapsed.

I'm seriously thinking of changing the engine shocks, as replacing the motor mounts, air filter mounts, tranny mount, rack damper, etc. seemed to help the idle smoothness A LOT! My car has come a long way since it used to shake from side to side (where you could see the star shake!!!)

However, I've heard conflicting views on the engine shocks. Are they just used for damping the engine vibration when the engine's shut down? or does it also affect idle smoothness?

Thanks
