So far, so good! PO had done the pinion seal, leaking like a bastard...
After taking off driveshaft, pinion nut was seriously loose, guessing he tried reusing the nut. Glad I caught it before it tore the gears and bearing up! Dry as a bone with new nut. Nice and quiet, Lucky..
Pulled the injectors off the parts car and they had new Monark nozzles in them, lucky again.. Sent them to Greazer for rebuild. Drove the car quite a bit the other day. It's funny after not driving it for so long, it just seems weird at first but after an hour or so I don't want to drive anything else.

Thumbs up injector rebuild

Adding this to this thread just because that's where I left off. Sent my injectors to Mark for the rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE to do everything myself. I can see no reason why anyone would ever do this procedure themselves when you can have someone like him do it for you as well as he does, as reasonably priced as he does it, and he's fast. I always thought the car ran well, it now runs better than that. My injector bodies looked like hell, came back looking new with my Monark nozzles installed and balanced/popped. I'm happy Thanks a bunch & I'll get them done in another 75K !

The new pinion seal is still fine, don't ever reuse that nut!

Flashback

So did you ever discover the origin of the ghost you were hunting? I know how frustrating it can be dumping loads of money on parts without results. As i am amidst my ownghost hunt I'm in ait of a dillemma and hoping to learn from what others have done, done differently, or rather they didnt do at all.

Ya, without access to a pop/nozzle tester you can't do the complete rebuild on Injectors yourself.

Sounds like you are taken care of. I bought the tester and rebuilt mine. It was kind of fun. I highly recommend it. I understand that purchasing new injectors vs. having them rebuilt by a good shop or doing them yourself is a gamble because they are often under or over 1700 psi. The tester is less than $100 or you can build one with a bottle jack and guage.
