I have discovered that the green vacuum line entering the passenger compartment for the climate control doesn't hold a vacuum with my Mityvac tester. I literally don't know where to start when trying to isolate the leak in the green climate control vacuum line. And, I can't see where it goes. Hence, I need to remove the center console (I assume) in order to find where the green line goes. (I made another post on how to remove the console). What is the first place that this line goes? Thanks |

If you do have climate control, as VS Tech questioned, on a car that has not run since 1998, you may want to consider blocking off the green vacuum line and making your heater run on an on-off basis. W123 climate controls are notoriously expensive and difficult to get running. The evil servo is no doubt bad, and that alone is almost a thousand dollars.
I live in the tropics and need no heat, so I have my 300D set up so when I push the defrost button I get air conditioning. Works for me. Richard |

find a vacuum diagram for the car. the temporary fix is to block off whatever is leaking so that the rest of the vacuum accessories still work.

I posted this in your other thread about the same subject.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/380147-83-240d-climate-control-vacuum-leak.html#post3627967 There is a air recircualtion flap that is controlled by vacuum on a 240D. I believe the green line goes to an electrical switch overvalve and then leads to the vacuum pod. It's all behind the glove compartment box and remove the dashboard knee panel to see the line.

good news: 83' 240 does not have an "evil servo". not sure but some of them may have the most advanced version of the automatic climate control system that went into w123s. if you have a horizontal row of buttons then its an ACCIII. reference for your searching.
if it has the manual knobs that control everything then it known as the ACCI and it's probably pretty simple to fix.
