Thanks for posting, those are awesome. The wording on some of those are really cracking me up.
Things like:
the two front seats are biomechanical support systems for the human torso and legs.

woodlike interior trim in the 300D is genuine handworked wood

you get a seductively responsive performance machine

And one that was in the 250SL brochure:
the filtered, dust and draught-free continuous air stream can be adjust up and down to any position

After reading the 1971 107 brochure describing the amazing "new" 350SL, it made me really want one of those cars!

But then I remembered that I already had one!

By the way, I heard on a British show that a 1972 350SL cost same as TWO e-type jags! Just wish they had held their value as well!

Glad they haven't, gives me a fighting chance of owning one some day

For now I'll be happy with my 300TD, it's by far the nicest car I've ever owned.

Thanks, I filed it. Interesting that they promote the gearbox over rack & pinion steering, which BMW was known for in the 1980's, but do say it is their own design (superior to Saginaw, etc?).

The 300SD was the epitomy of high-class then. "The People vs. O.J" shows Johnny Cochran driving a 300SD in 1982 thru a tony L.A. neighborhood (with another in the background). He is stopped by a policeman for being suspicious, a black man driving such a fancy car. According to the link below, the incident was true, but happened in 1979, in which case the car looks incorrect. There were 1979 300SD cars w/ rectangular lights (last photo), but somewhat different. I defer to 300SD experts, plus the linked site may have the year wrong. Either way, kudos to the producers for rounding up such nice period cars. It isn't like the old Hawaii Five-O where McGarrett drove off in a 2 door LTD and arrived at the crime scene in a 4 door.

Nothing to do with the brochures, but this was an interesting Mercedes ad from back then:

Video on the W123, mostly about the handling and reliability, no mention of the diesels. Drifting on the track. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ7zUsu9_WI&list=PLeywdn9ZehZtoNrmGBKu0dGHM_RU1VHCw
