W124 300D 2.5 Service Intervals
Looking for recommended fluid & filter change intervals. Mostly interested in factory recommendations, but if anyone has more aggressive service intervals, I'd be interested in hearing from them as well (provided some justification is given). I've flipped through the OM, but I don't remember seeing anything specific, and I'm not sure my car has all the original maintenance/service documentation.
Looking specifically for the following: - Engine OCI (synthetic or otherwise, though I think I'm decided on 15W-40 Delvac 1). - Fuel filters (in-line & screw-in). - Engine air filter (I don't think my '92 has a cabin air filter). - Tranny fluid & filter. - PS fluid & filter. - Brake fluid flush (usually do 1-2 years on my BMW, depending on use). - Coolant flush (I think I do 2 years on my BMW...). - Rear diff fluid (annual on my BMW, but it has an LSD - no ASD on my W124). - Glow plugs. - Anything I'm forgetting? All of the above was changed about 2000 miles ago, so I figure I'm good to go for a while, with the exception of engine oil, and possibly fuel filters. Thanks! |

Fuel filters need changing to prevent water rust out about every 15000 miles, unless you drive a LOT, then go to once every year or so. However, if you rarely park your car with less than a full tank, it will help prevent water, and contaminants from forming in the tank.
I DRIVE A LOT and rarely park my cars with a low fuel tank... so I only change the fuel filter when I notice acceleration issues.
