Leak down tester adapters
I am researching buying a leak down tester to check if the 3.0L M103 i have that I want to swap into my 190E 2.6 is actually in good enough shape to swap. I got it for $100 from parts yard owner by a retired Mercedes mechanic in Rome, GA, he said he thinks his buddy's shop had done a head job before it was wrecked and ended up in his parts yard. I believe he is correct looking at the engine but I don't want to spend the time and money swapping it in to find that it's actually needing head work.
That being said, I think the adapters to use a tester for a gas engine are most likely included with the kit as AFAIK the spark plugs in the M103 are a common size, but the adapter to use it in a Mercedes diesel is going to be separate. I've looked on this forum for information but most of what I have seen is more than 10 years old and the links don't work. I'd like to be able to test OM61x engines as well as OM60X and the OM606. Are there any kits that have these or do I need to order them separately or is it going to be something I have to fabricate? Is the test done through the glow plug hole or the injector hole?

I have a Motometer set up the dealers used - for ease of use everything tends to go through the injector hole. On late model engines they tend to lean towards glow plug hole adapters (606, etc) as the injectors are somewhat of a pain to get in and out.

You can bodge one from an HF diesel compression tester and an HF leakdown tester. I pulled the Schrader valve out of the injector adapter, and went to a hose shop and said I needed some bits to connect them the injector adapter and the leakdown tester. It cost like $5. I don't see why you couldn't do that with a GP adapter as well.

The kit I found has a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 18mm adapter. IIRC, the glow plug thread are 10mm or 12mm, should be the same pitch as a spark plug. That will make it where I can test an OM617 easily, and a OM602 with some effort. If I ever do need to test a OM606, I'll just buy that Harbor Freight kit. I guess on an OM606 it's going to be difficult to do any way you look at it, from broken GPs to getting to the injectors.
