Because swapping the harnesses would be a lot of work with plenty of risk that you'll miss connect something, for probably no gain. Unless you see bad wiring (melted or crumbling insulation) or test it and find it bad, I don't think you'll be gaining anything. Just getting wiring wet doesn't ruin it, except maybe at the connectors which have probably corroded. That can be cleaned up.

I disagree on not swapping the harnesses. MB made things pretty much idiot proof. They were very careful to choose connectors at each node that could not be confused. You're asking for trouble leaving a harness that was soaked like that.

I've studied the ETM for the 124 and the 92 and 93 have very few if any electrical differences. The product was mature and they only did one more refresh for the "special edition" last year 1995 model.

I'm not sure just because I've never done this and feel like I'm making it a big deal when it's probably cake work.

I think the harness just goes thru the steel seat beam and out the other side. If you take your time it shouldn't be too bad to get them changed. I would also recommend removing the Mercedes soundproofing which is glued on the floor. Might be rust or mold underneath. I used a heat gun and replaced it with Dynamat in my wagon.

Yup a lot of the water loosened that stuff up that I scraped it away with a flat head.. Not too rusty. One spot of rust I'll weld before I put it back together however. It's an actual hole from the moisture for 6 years. I already saw it underneath the car. This swap should be easy now that I have most of the carpet up as of TODAY... I need both cars side by side though, I have my other parts car at a shop and need to bring it home.
