95 e300d injection pump mounted shut off valve swap out question

I've read several threads and watched videos on how to do this. Some say they can swap it out in about 5 minutes after it's exposed.

The video shows an external shutoff arm that is raised to bring the internal slot high enough to hook the new shutoff valve into it.

Question: For the pumps that don't have an external arm what procedure is used to hook the new valve into the proper place?

A little concerned because some have mentioned the rpms can be excessive and no quick way to shut off if not installed properly.
