95 E300D Timing marker

I changed the water pump because it didn't feel right. Thought it might be causing part of my belt jumping. Also added a one way pulley to alternator in hopes it would also help.

In changing the water pump I removed the metal plate with timing pointer built in. To aid in putting it back in place and for future reference I made a small mark in the aluminum behind the pointer. My mark is a little off so I intend to add two more marks to the right of it. The middle one will be the one I use for alignment.

Made a mistake by trying to clean the old raised timing numbers and marks on the harmonic balancer. Wore them down a bit before I realized they are molded into rubber not metal. Best to clean them with soap and water not a little brass brush.
