Short run without fan or throttle linkages?
I need to move my 240D, which is in the middle of getting a variety of maintenance done. Trying to literally move it 25 feet, one forward run; one backwards run.
Currently my throttle linkage is off (the horizontal one from the firewall to the IP area), and my fan is off. If all I need to do is go at idle speed, forward and backwards, car not to be on for more than a minute, is there anything I should be concerned with? Hopefully this is a stupid question, but better to ask.... |
You will be fine.
Honestly you can drive around with no fan most days, it's just when you get into traffic in the summer that things get warm. Put a shoelace around the waterpump if you're paranoid to keep it moving. |
If you are really worried, just push it?

Because I need my wife to move it in my absence, and there's a little bump up and down in and out of garages, which I need a bit of torque to do. |
Stupid me. Yes, the pulley will fall off if the fan is removed. Re-apply spacer, pulley and bolts.
At that point might as well put fan on. |
