W115 220D GLOWPLUG

Hello all,

I'm extremely new to ownership of a classic Merecedes-Benz and have already encountered a few issues. I am willing to admit that some these issues may have been caused by ignorance on my part.

The car developed an oil leak that needed to be investigated and I stopped driving it late summer 2017. It has since been in the driveway (covered) due the abysmal weather here in the UK.

I've recently tried starting it to no avail. I changed the battery and upgraded the glow plugs to the new pencil style glow plugs using the guide below:

Mercedes Diesel Glow Plug Repair

(I'm assuming that the set up is for a 300D).

Now, I think I have connected the wiring correctly using 10mm copper wire as it's a simple job and I've disconnected the earth that usually connects to Glow Plug #1 (closest to grill)

When trying to test the system I noticed that when I attempted to crank the engine that the starter motor would not turn over at all. Is there something I've missed or accidently disconnected?

Furthermore, are there any fuses on the 220D model that need to be investigated to ensure they're in full working order? I looked at a diagram of the fusebox located in the engine bay and there is nothing there that looks like it related to the glow plugs.

Any help would be much appreciated as I'd like to get this sorted sooner than later. Who knows how long the good weather will last(!)
