Help me understand my IP pump
87 190D, OM602 turbo diesel
Hi 'ya folks, I'm trying to better understand the IP pump in my 190D. I stumbled across two items that I cannot name and therefore I cannot google search them. [IMG][/IMG] What is this electrical connector for? [IMG][/IMG] What is this gizmo for? [IMG][/IMG] General picture of the IP pump for reference Thanks! |

The electrical plug on top is for the rack position sensor. It's for use with the EDS computer to adjust EGR flow and idle performance.
The "gizmo" on the side of the IP is the VCV for the transmission. It's a variable vacuum "leak" to make the modulator work properly for smooth shifting.

Thanks! One of these days I promise to buy a manual, but this site is much better!
