Junkyard dog head removal question

I’m taking the head off an om606 diesel this weekend. I don’t have the timing chain guide rail removal tool anymore, it got loaned and never returned and lost. Why I quit loaning tools out. Regardless, I know the bolt and washer method but never did it.

I did however read that a couple guys butchered up the bottom pin above the vacuum pump using the washer and bolt method so I’m not sure I wanna get stuck at the junkyard using easy outs and a drill and possibly butchering a head.

If I do what I hate to do and is a total junkyard dog removal and cut the timing chain with a grinder, will I be able to slide the head off with the timing chain rails attached to the head?
